June 14 - 22, 2014 -- Summer had just started with Jon's parents visit the week before. Next on our visitor list was Joel, and a fun road trip around España. We said goodbye to Jon's parents on a Thursday, Jon left for training in Los Angeles on Tuesday, was back in Amsterdam on Thursday and Joel arrived on Saturday. A lot of airport visits in a week, but we cant really complain. Jon and Joel had put a lot of thought into this trip and we were really excited to take in more cites in Spain - it's always fun to share our travels with friends.
When he arrived, we did the quick tour of the Amsterdam. Besides the museums, we made sure to show him all the staples, as well as taking in all of the excitement of Holland - the Dutch soccer team was playing well in the World Cup matches.
May 25 - June 5, 2014 --  We opened our summer B&B by welcoming Jon's parents as our first visitors. Plus they were gracious enough to bring my wedding dress (!!!) and our invitations (!!!) which made wedding planning a little more real as well. They arrived just as Amsterdam's weather appeared to be perking up, but in hindsight it was only a short break from the rain and cool temperatures! We played tour guide in Amsterdam and then headed south into France.

Along the way we made a quick stop in charming Bruges. The city was just as adorable as we remembered as we wandered the quiet streets under overcast skies. Bruges is a small city (more of a town, really) and captures a lot of the unique qualities of Belgium that sets it apart from the rest of Europe. And no trip to Belgian would be complete without a waffle, of course, so we went in search of the local staple! Admittedly our attempts fell short with a heavy, sticky carnival style pastry... lesson learned. Luckily we found chocolate and beer, which always makes things better.

May - August, 2014 -- It has been an entertaining summer - quite literally. The warm weather started off slowly in Amsterdam, so we were pretty happy to have family and friends that were visiting and up for a little travel. We covered a lot of ground in a short time and we didn't want to rush through blog posts - we promise to have each of their visits up soon.
Jennifer headed back to Portland today, so now I am diligently sorting through a thousand (truthfully, many more!) photos and am clacking away at the keyboard. In the meantime, here are just a few pics of our summer travels with Jon's parents, Joel and Jennifer!
