April 19, 2014 -- What is more Dutch than tulips, windmills and farm animals? Nothing. So we were quite excited to start our Easter weekend at the beach with a stop at the Keukenhof Gardens. It is home to millions of bulbed flowers and are only open for a couple months a year. We arrived before just before they opened the gates and before the busses of tourists arrived, thankfully. The gardens were virtually empty for the first hour, so we really got to take in the majority of the beauty all by ourselves. Our appreciation for flowers has definitely grown since moving over to the Netherlands, and the landscaping of the gardens only elevated it. Well worth the drive, we visited at the perfect time; nearly all the flowers were in full bloom with just a few that had already bloomed out.
